Within the framework of our launching program of the Afromuseum, a museum marking the presence of African and Afro-descendant cultures, we are organising a creative weekend entitled 'Inspired by Mandela'. It will bring together 27 artists of all origins during a live painting session.
On June 12, we launched a call to artists to invite them to take part in this moment of collective creation by revisiting the legacy left by Nelson Mandela to humanity.
On the 4th and 5th of September, the Afromuseum will serve as a workshop space where the 27 selected artists will create their live paintings in a friendly and festive atmosphere. The project will be completed on February 11th 2022 as part of Black History Month by artists in performing arts, music, dance, poetry and storytelling. The whole project will also be broadcast on our different social media platforms and thus accessible to a large amount of people.
The selected works will be integrated into the Afromuseum's permanent collection and will then go on tour throughout Quebec in the spring 2022.
