Monama
Inspired by the work of William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Monama reinterprets Christian iconography with a contemporary twist. In this piece, a black woman sits majestically, draped in rich fabrics. She radiates a serenity that contrasts sharply with the tumult around her, creating a striking visual tension. The work plunges to the heart of the correlation between maternal ties and the essential role of transmission. Monama transcends the boundaries of art to reflect the singularity of women in Africa, highlighting their vital role in the continent's economic, social, cultural and political development.
